105 Year-Old Manoel de Oliveira & Cristian Mungiu Line Up New Directorial Projects

Manoel de Oliveira is 105 years-old, and while other filmmakers talk about retirement or wanting to try something different, the Portuguese director doesn't know the word quit. That's right, he's already in production on his next project, so whatever little complaints you might have about your day, maybe take it down a notch because Oliveira is still shuffling around, getting it down.

Even though Rome Film Festival head Marco Mueller had been promising two surprise additions to his line-up -- strongly hinting toward Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" being one of them -- we're not sure any of these latest additions qualify as left field shockers. But for cinema buffs, they do promise an interesting time as they gear up for a week long run or so of movies.

Maybe you're still a bit hungover from the weekend and feeling a bit lethargic at the beginning of the work week? Don't tell it to Manoel de Oliveira. At 102 years old, the famed Portuguese director has started lensing his next feature length film. Awesome.

The Fesitval Du Nouveau Cinema recently hit Montreal theaters providing a sample of films that have already done the Cannes/Venice/TIFF run as well a handful of world and Canadian premieres. While we didn't have time to catch as much as we would have liked, the festival allowed us to fill up a few slots of films we missed at past festivals and an opportunity to catch a couple of new ones.
