According to The Wrap, the first member of the rebooted “Fantastic Four” might be cast – Michael B. Jordan, who co-starred in director Josh Trank’s previous movie, the more-clever-than-it-had-any-right-to-be “Chronicle,” seems to be in contention to play The Human Torch aka Johnny Storm. The reboot is scheduled to hit theaters in 2015.

Colin Firth To Lead Matthew Vaughn's Spy Blockbuster 'The Secret Service'

As an actor, Colin Firth has proved remarkably resilient over his thirty-year career. After breaking through in 1984's "Another Country," a series of strong performances followed that never quite saw him become a huge star. But suddenly, 1995's TV version of "Pride & Prejudice" made him a heartthrob, and led to roles in Oscar-winners "The English Patient" and "Shakespeare In Love." Just as the roles started to dry up again, he played another seminal romantic lead in "Bridget Jones' Diary." And then, as his career seemed to creep into self-parody with the likes of "Mamma Mia" and "St. Trinian's," he got back-to-back Oscar nominations for "A Single Man" and "The King's Speech," winning for the latter.

Matthew Vaughn doesn't tend to be the sort of director to get attached to a zillion projects. The director behind "Kick-Ass" and "X-Men: First Class" found his schedule wide open when he dropped out of helming "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" last fall, and while he was briefly rumored as a contender for "Star Wars: Episode 7" and signed up to produce Josh Trank's "Fantastic Four," his next gig is actually one that has been brewing for a long time now, and it will reunite him with an old pal.

Bailing last fall on directing "X-Men: Days Of Future Past," and still yet to lock down his next directorial, Matthew Vaughn isn't leaving the Fox lot or the comic book genre behind completely. Besides 'Future Past' and "The Wolverine," the studio and their newly minted nerd consultant Mark Millar still have a lot to tackle, including one major property in "Fantastic Four." And now it's getting a little bit of help.

To put it bluntly, Matthew Vaughn didn't have the most pleasant shooting schedule on "X-Men: First Class." With about ten months from shoot to screen, the director was ridiculously hard pressed for time, and even found himself cycling through five cinematographers on the tumultuous shoot. January Jones famously joked, “Poor (director) Matthew Vaughn is going to have to edit it in three days. That’s been a blast. We’ve all had so much fun making that movie. I think it was unrealistic for them to think they were going to make such a huge movie in whatever we had — two months or something. So of course we went over [schedule]." It's not exactly an ideal situation, and perhaps Vaughn has seen the writing on the wall for "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

Well, all of this year's comic book movies are pretty much squared away, with "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "The Dark Knight Rises" hitting theaters in the next month or so, we can now turn our attention to what's on the horizon, and early next year Matthew Vaughn will re-team with the cast of "X-Men: First Class" for a sequel. As usual, story details at the moment are being kept under lock and key, but that hasn't stopped nerds on the Internet from doing some digging, and some fresh intel has surfaced.

Director Matthew Vaughn has been trafficking almost exclusively in comic book adaptations over the past few years, establishing franchises with 2010's "Kick-Ass" and last year's "X-Men: First Class." While Fox has Vaughn returning to direct the 'First Class' sequel, he'll still be involved in producing "Kick-Ass 2," and has optioned the rights to a couple of 'Kick-Ass' co-creator Mark Millar's other comic book properties, namely "The Secret Service" and "Superior." But it looks like Vaughn has aspirations outside of the comic book milieu, purchasing the rights to the upcoming novel "Lexicon" from author Max Barry with his own money.

Beloved and beautiful geek scribe Jane Goldman has her hands full. In addition to penning this weekend's gothic Hammer horror story "The Woman In Black," she's lined up a number of big projects. And while there's a chance one of them may or may not be involved in the forthcoming "X-Men: First Class" sequel, she may have bigger fish to fry.

Well, the wheels were in motion and it was probably just a matter of time. Last fall you'll remember that much to the chagrin of fans everywhere, "X-Men: The Last Stand" writer Simon Kinberg was hired to pen the sequel to "X-Men: First Class." While the film was ultimately a bit of a disappointment for Fox -- it's still the lowest grossing effort in the series -- it at least won back the fanboys to the franchise who had given up after 'Last Stand' and the flat out awful "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." And with it's main cast -- Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and James McAvoy -- all set to become bigger stars in the next year or so, it's a no-brainer to put them all in the same movie again (especially if they're contractually obligated). Now, one more factor in the qualitative success of 'First Class' is back.
