Filming might have got underway, but the dust is still settling on what was undoubtedly the biggest news story of the week: "We Need To Talk About Kevin" director Lynne Ramsay seemingly walking out of her latest film, Western "Jane Got A Gun" on the first day of production, before a frame had been shot. She was swiftly replaced by "Warrior" helmer Gavin O'Connor, but actor Jude Law followed Ramsay out the door, leaving stars Natalie Portman and Joel Edgerton without a villain (though Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire and Jeff Bridges are apparently being courted).

"Jane Got a Gun," the small-scale western starring Natalie Portman that recently attached "We Need to Talk About Kevin" filmmaker Lynne Ramsay as a director, could be getting some added firepower in the form of a white hot leading man, sex addict and occasional robot (in the movies, at least) Michael Fassbender. Vulture reports that the actor is in early talks for the film, which could start lensing early next year.

Terrence Malick, a director who not long ago was famed for the vast lengths of time between his film releases, now has no less than three (or is it four?) projects at various stages of development. In fact, we’re constantly having to remind ourselves which film is which when a new piece of information arises. Well some new pictures have turned up from a Malick set and they feature Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale and Natalie Portman so by a process of elimination we’ve worked out that we must be talking about “Knight of Cups.” Oh, wait, they’re all starring in his untitled movie as well, aren’t they? See how this can get confusing!

Ever since its surprise announcement a month or so back, "The Counselor," the first script written directly for the screen by Pulitzer Prize-winner Cormac McCarthy, author of "No Country For Old Men" and "The Road," has been one of the hottest projects in Hollywood. Swiftly snapped up by the producers of "The Road," the film soon had Ridley Scott attached to direct, and man-of-the-moment Michael Fassbender locked into the lead role, an attorney who gets way over their head in the drugs trade.

Nope, still no plot details or anything really about Terrence Malick's upcoming back-to-back films "Lawless" and "Knight Of Cups," but as if we couldn't be any more stoked about what the elusive filmmaker will bring to us next, here comes this little bombshell. Natalie Portman will be joining both films. Damn.

After some downtime following the poorly received (though cult favorite) "Speed Racer," the Wachowskis have come roaring back, and if anything, their ambition has only grown larger with time. As you already know, they are hard at work with Tom Tykwer on the time-spanning, sprawling, "Cloud Atlas," but just this fall, another project sprang to life. "Jupiter Ascending" suddenly appeared on the horizon, touted as the directing duo's next film, and indeed, they are moving full steam ahead.

Natalie Portman: Actress, Oscar winner, mother and vegan. That's right, in case you weren't aware, Portman is part of a select group of actresses that also includes Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard, that abstain of any food or product that comes from an animal. For the most part, she's kept her dietary preferences to herself (though there was that stint on "Top Chef" a couple of years ago) but it looks like she'll stay silent no longer.

Signing up to a Marvel movie has to be a heavy undertaking these days. Famed for being financially thrifty, creatively controlling and normally insistent on constrictive multi-film deals, the studio might have proved successful with their times at bat so far, but having already estranged Jon Favreau and Mickey Rourke, among others, the studio have now allegedly managed to alienate arguably the biggest star not named Robert Downey Jr. in their stable.
