Nicole Holofcener The Land Of Steady Habits
It's pretty much a crime that a year has gone by since "Enough Said" hit theaters, and the consistently underrated Nicole Holofcener doesn't have a ton of projects piled on her doorstep. Thankfully, it appears that some movement is finally happening on a new film, and hopefully it won't be too long until the director has another movie on the big screen.

Horrible Bosses
The Toronto International Film Festival is upon us, and with it flurries of announcements like the snows of the Canadian summer (or something), with new projects being lined up for original "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" director Niels Arden Oplev, an Elvis Presley biopic for "Last King of Scotland" director Kevin MacDonald, the "We're the Millers" team of Sean Anders and John Morris, "The Disappearance of Alice Creed" director J Blakeson, while a big screen adaptation of Emma Donoghue's best-selling coming-of-age novel "Room" inches closer to fruition.

Review: 'Dead Man Down' Is A Surprisingly Satisfying Revenge Movie That Combines B-Movie Aesthetics With European Artiness

"Dead Man Down," the new revenge movie that marks the domestic debut of Niels Arden Oplev, the Norwegian director behind the original Swedish version of "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," doesn't have an extended title sequence. There are a couple of names of production companies and then the title and that's it. This is sort of strange, especially considering its impressive cast, which includes Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace, Isabelle Huppert and Terrence Howard. But everything about "Dead Man Down" is designed to catch you off guard, and most of the time it totally works, effortlessly mixing B-movie aesthetics with deeply contemplative European artiness. The result is a movie that is genuinely, totally unexpected.

Well, here's a remake we forgot about. Way back in the summer of 2011, Sony tapped "Source Code" writer Ben Ripley to pen their remake of the 1990 horror flick "Flatliners," which the studio has been developing since as far back as 2008 when it was conceived as a TV series, with Michael Douglas once mooted to star. Since then things have been quiet, but there may be some movement once again.

Somewhat surprisingly, CBS has bypassed the usual pilot song-and-dance and gone ahead and ordered thirteen episodes of "Under the Dome," an adaptation of Stephen King's beloved doorstop-sized novel, adapted by comic book creator Brian K. Vaughan and executive produced by Steven Spielberg. The series should begin airing/scaring the crap out of audiences next summer.

While the Swedish 'Dragon Tattoo' films didn't grip us as much as David Fincher's version, the overall success of the films (and, in this case, the first film) has paved the way for the talent involved, director Niels Arden Oplev and actress Noomi Rapace. Now hard at work on an English-language reunion, "Dead Man Down," the duo have managed to get us excitied with a grimey-sounding revenge-actioner that boasts a stellar cast that includes Colin Farrell, Dominic Cooper, Terrence Howard and Isabelle Huppert.

While his Lisbeth Salander, played by Noomi Rapace, used her turn in the Swedish Millenium trilogy films to break into Hollywood with roles in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows" and "Prometheus," original "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" director Niels Arden Oplev hasn't fared quite as well. While he's been attached to quite a few projects -- "Game Theory," "The Keep" and "The Last Photograph" (though Zack Snyder, who developed the movie has now decided to direct it himself) -- none have really taken off, but it looks like his old leading lady is coming back with a much bigger star in tow get his next project moving.

Afghan war? Drama? Zack Snyder? Admittedly, something in there doesn't make sense but believe it or not, the man behind "300," "Watchmen" and "Sucker Punch" came up with an idea for just such a movie and with his regular collaborator Kurt Johnstad penning the script, they've had it in development for a while. Sergey Bodrov (”Mongol”) was originally attached to direct back in March 2009, and earlier this spring Niels Arden Oplev (”The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”) had come on board but it looks like Snyder doesn't want to part with his baby any more.

While Noomi Rapace has quickly capitalized on the success of the Swedish language "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" films, with roles in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows" and "Prometheus" on the way, director Niels Arden Oplev's steps into Hollywood have been a bit more tentative. Last fall he was attached to direct the thriller "The Keep" for CBS Films though there hasn't been much movement since; he's also potentially got the Afghan war drama "The Last Photograph" with Christian Bale and possibly Sean Penn in the lead roles and he's also stepped over to television, directing the pilot episode of "The Rememberer" (yes, that's the name) a CBS procedural that sounds terrible. Well, one more project has been stacked up as his possible U.S. debut.
