There's been some confusion as to whether or not Ridley Scott's hotly anticipated return to sci-fi, "Prometheus" (out June 8th, 2012, galaxy-wide), is a prequel or a reboot or somehow connected to his earlier, influential "Alien." Various cast and crew members have said conflicting things, and the absolute secrecy surrounding the project certainly hasn't helped to clear anything up (although when we spoke to Charlize Theron a few weeks ago, she did let a little something slip). In a recent interview with Filmophilia, Ridley Scott both downplays the film's connection to "Alien" before, in the same interview, backtracking and saying there's a concrete link. Sir Ridley is going loco!

Few movies have sparked as much speculation, excitement, and unease (just think of the potential disappointment!) as Ridley Scott's upcoming "Prometheus," which promises to return the famed director to the "Alien" universe that shot him into the directorial stratosphere. What, exactly, "Prometheus" is remains something of a mystery, but these new images, set to appear in next week's Entertainment Weekly, sheds a little bit of light. At the very least, they just upped the intrigue factor, at least for us.

Natalie Portman Now Linked To Director's 'Gucci' Project Next year, Ridley Scott's twentieth film as director, "Alien" semi-prequel "Prometheus," will be released. The British helmer will also turn 75, and he has more films in development than most Hollywood studios; the director is attached to everything from political drama "Reykjavik" to board game adaptation "Monopoly" and, only announced a few hours ago, a biopic of turn-of-the-century explorer Gertrude Bell with Angelina Jolie. Just for good measure, another one found its way onto his dance card this evening.

As if he didn't blow enough fanboy minds when it was announced that he'd be making an "Alien" spinoff thingy with "Prometheus," Ridley Scott positively left brains in a puddle on the floor when this summer he decided, he was going to head back to the world of "Blade Runner" as well. At the time, details were scarce. It wasn't known whether it would be a DNA sharing standalone like "Prometheus" or something directly linked, but Scott has shared a few cryptic details about what might be in store.
