There's escapist fun, and then there's "Machete Kills," a movie that fully embraces its brainlessness and bad taste, rounding up a bunch of big name stars to chew scenery, blow things up, and show lots of cleavage. And in that spirit, here's a few more peeks at the latest from Robert Rodriguez.

Machete Kills
If you think things shooting from boobs and women getting punched in the vagina is totally irreverent and edgy, and having Charlie Sheen actually say the words "Machete Kills" is some sort of knowing genius, then you're probably a better audience for this movie than we are.

Machete Kills
Director Robert Rodriguez is one of those guys who is perfectly capable of making a movie in good taste, but he refuses to do so with every fiber of his being (even his movies for little kids play like some psychedelic voyage into the fourth dimension). Case in point: the new poster for "Machete Kills," the follow-up to his 2010 feature "Machete," which was based on a fake trailer Rodriguez created for his double-feature with Quentin Tarantino, "Grindhouse" (an experience Tarantino barely seems to acknowledge). This poster has everything: a triple-bladed sword, Michelle Rodriguez rocking an eye-patch, grade-A slimeballs Charlie Sheen and Mel Gibson looking downright stoic, Lady Gaga in an old timey bathing suit, and lots and lots of fire. When Danny Trejo is the least outrageous thing on the poster, you can understand the level of insanity on display. Somewhere, Photoshop has quietly hung itself. Read on to see the poster in all of its glory, plus the first look at Mel Gibson's villainous bad guy and even more outrageous photos.

Machete Kills, Michelle & Robert Rodriguez
Here's a break from the onslaught of festival talk, previews and chatter with some good old fashioned B-movie mayhem. "Machete Kills" is coming with blood, boobs, babes and bullets and a few more peeks at the film have arrived.

With the success of shows like “Bates Motel” and the promise of the forthcoming small-screen adaptation of “Fargo,” networks are once again looking to the silver screen for future shows. Deadline reports that NBC—no doubt emboldened by the critical reception to “Hannibal”—has ordered a pilot for an hour-long medical thriller based on the 1995 Wolfgang Petersen-helmed viral thriller “Outbreak.” Shepherded and written by “ER” veterans John Wells and Jack Orman, the series will follow “an ensemble of characters as they race to contain a lethal virus before it becomes a global pandemic.” Can NBC go two-for-two with their adaptations?

When Robert Rodriguez's "El Mariachi" burst onto the scene, it announced the voice of a filmmaker who had no lack of entrepreneurial spirit, and one who wasn't going to follow any traditional career playbook. And certainly, Rodriguez has stuck his to own guns, forging a career that has seen him largely follow his own instincts and interests despite where Hollywood trends may be going. And he's become even more prolific. This year alone has seen him tackle two movies, the upcoming "Machete Kills" and the 2014 slated "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For," while also developing a number of other projects, including the fan assisted short, "Two Scoops." And one medium he's been turning toward recently is television.

Only one movie this year will feature boob guns, and an iPhone with a knife in it and yes, that movie is "Machete Kills." The sequel to Robert Rodriguez's bawdy, grindhouse goof "Machete" hits theaters this fall, and while it won't win Oscars, that's cool because Machete don't do awards season.

It appears that Robert Rodriguez is human. With a work ethic to rival James Franco, the filmmaker has been on a tear recently shooting "Machete Kills," "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For," and the fan-assisted short "Two Scoops," while lining up TV projects including a "From Dust 'Til Dawn" series and a Latino James Bond-type show of which he'll direct the pilot. It appears that something had to give in all this, and for those of you who have been waiting to revisit Sin City...well, you'll have to keep waiting...

Two months ago, Miramax announced that Robert Rodriguez would take part in Blackberry’s “Keep Moving” project with his own “Project Green Screen.” The “do-it-yourself” filmmaker had an unfinished short at his disposal and called out to fans “to use your creativity and imagination to help complete” the film. Although this reads like a fun experiment in fan collaboration, it also sounds like a bunch of free labor, but what do we know about innovative filmmaking?

Machete Kills Danny Trejo Demian Bichir
From Sofia Vergara shooting bullets out of her top to the presence of Lady Gaga, Robert Rodriguez isn't kidding around with "Machete Kills," another run at the grindhouse with Danny Trejo. And after being partially leaked last week, the official trailer is now here, and he isn't changing up the format too much it seems, even if it's even more star-packed than last time around.
