"David Bowie Is" goes the title of the touring museum exhibition about the musician, actor and icon, and that's about as perfect a description as he needs. Bowie simply defies any easy categorization in a career that has seen him top the charts, influence countless artists and musicians and remain uniquely, well, Bowie every step of the way. And here's an opportunity to see the man both present and past.

Remember a few years ago when M.I.A. was trying to drum up attention for her ultimately underwhelming third album? There was the New York Times profile, the outrageous fashion decisions, and, most notably, the "controversial" video for "Born Free," directed by Romain Gavras (son of director Costa-Gavras). In the clip, redheaded kids were being rounded up and forced to march through landmine-strewn patches of earth, which at the time was seen as some kind of reaction to the stringent anti-immigration laws in Arizona or American xenophobia or… something. But it turns out that the music video is actually part of a larger work Romain Gavras is constructing, which includes his striking, often brilliant debut feature "Our Day Will Come."

Director Romain Gavras is no stranger to helming provocative material, being the man behind M.I.A.'s redhead killing "Born Free" and the helmer of "Notre Jour Viendre" but he's upping the stakes for "No Church In The Wild," the latest single from the team up of Jay-Z and Kanye West.

M.I.A. is back! And she's going mainstream! Set to appear alongside Madonna and Nicki Minaj at the Super Bowl this weekend, that performance will certainly be one of the more bizarre to ever grace the already dodgy history of halftime shows, and in a perfectly calibrated marketing move, the former revolution chanting hip hop artist has dropped her new single "Bad Girls."

Romain Gavras -- son of celebrated filmmaker Costa-Gavras -- has followed in his father's footsteps and has quickly made an impressive stamp. Last year, he helmed the controversial video for M.I.A.'s "Born Free" and made his directorial debut with his equally disturbing "Our Day Will Come." He's returned, this time with something a lot more mainstream, but still displaying his signature style.
