Great performances from Nicole Kidman are generally years apart nowadays, partly because she's not as prolific as she use to be. But with Park Chan-wook's "Stoker" and Lee Daniel's "The Paperboy" both due out later in the year, 2012 is certainly shaping up to be a big one for the actress. Kidman has now seemingly added another project to her calendar, as she is in talks to star in Rowan Joffe's sophomore directorial effort, an adaptation of S.J. Watson's critically acclaimed novel "Before I Go To Sleep."

Ah, Julian Assange. Aside from the interminable line-up of Snow White projects threatening to engulf the entire Western seaboard, he’s become the most in-demand bleached blond belle of the ball. With so many competing film projects about the prurient leaker of state secrets clamoring for our attention, it’s hard to keep track of them all. One project in particular, though, just got a healthy kick up the posterior. Deadline reports that the HBO-BBC co-production adaptation of last year’s New Yorker article, ‘No Secrets: Julian Assange’s Mission for Total Transparency’, has recruited producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall to its cause and bagged a screenwriter, Rowan Joffe.

For whatever reason, this one escaped our noticed, but last spring the LA Times reported that Mike Newell was developing a WWII film, "Agent Zizag." Well, not much else has been heard since then, but there is now fresh movement on the project.

IFC Films has announced that they've picked up the rights to Rowan Joffe’s feature debut “Brighton Rock” for distribution in the US. Joffe, known for writing films such as “28 Weeks Later” and Anton Corbjin’s “The American," penned the adaptation from Graham Greene’s 1939 novel of the same name. The film stars thespians Sam Riley and Andrea Riseborough, with supporting roles played by John Hurt and Helen Mirren.

After only recently pondering the prospects for screenwriter Rowan Joffe's adaptation of Graham Greene's classic underworld thriller "Brighton Rock," the first trailer for the film has now been unveiled in preparation for its upcoming theatrical release in the U.K. and recent premieres at the London and Toronto Film Festivals.
