It might have been a far shorter wait than we're used from Terrence Malick -- less than two years have passed since the premiere of "The Tree Of Life" -- but given that it shot over three years ago, and premiered at Venice six months back, those who weren't lucky enough to see "To The Wonder" on the festival circuit in 2012 must be getting impatient to see the latest film from the reclusive auteur.

This weekend, the 2012 movie that has generated as much critical praise as controversy, will finally be unleashed on the masses in wide release – Kathryn Bigelow's "Zero Dark Thirty." A white-knuckle account of the decade-long hunt for Osama bin Laden, it's a surprisingly human tale, focusing on a cluster of dedicated operatives (led by Jessica Chastain's note-perfect portrayal of CIA agent Maya) who brought down the architect of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. One of those operatives is played by Jason Clarke, as man as skilled at the art of "advanced interrogation techniques" (aka the torture scenes that have gotten people so riled up) as he is in greasing the wheels of an informant by buying him an expensive sports car in the middle of the night.

Sometimes, as with the twenty-year span between "Days of Heaven" and "The Thin Red Line," waiting for a Terrence Malick movie can be unbearable. A little bit like waiting for Godot. And yet, suddenly, all that has changed. "The Tree Of Life" arrived in 2011 and his latest film, "To The Wonder" hit the film festival circuit in 2012. It arrives this spring in domestic theaters and to boot, Malick already has two more films in the can, one of which we might see during the 2013 fall film festival circuit if we're lucky. Presumably the filmmaker is making up for lost time.

It's nice to see the Yeti that is Terrence Malick come out of hiding these last few years. Ever since "The Tree Of Life," Malick's not only been working at an uncharacteristically quick clip, he's actually been finishing films at a rapid pace. His latest, the romance drama "To The Wonder" is already in the can (here's a recent French trailer). Starring Ben Affleck, Olga Kurylenko, Rachel McAdams and Javier Bardem (and several cameos, some of which never made the film), reviews from the Toronto International Film Festival and Venice were decidely divided -- some accusing the film to be a culmination of Malick's worst tendencies, others describing it as a work of beauty.

If you weren't one of those who saw the film in Venice or Toronto this year, you've likely seen very little of Terrence Malick's "To The Wonder," the director's uncharacteristically fast-in-arriving follow-up to his wildly acclaimed "The Tree Of Life." Two images from the film have been released, but those who've been avoiding the reviews might not yet have much of an idea of what to expect.

Going on spring break this year? Well, you might want to shorten the trip or dip into the budget, because Criterion is coming for you in March full throttle with an auteur heavy line up, led by the one and only Terrence Malick.

Press shy, mercurial and often leaving his actors a bit baffled (just ask Ben Affleck, Richard Gere or Christopher Plummer), it's often hard to get a read on just who Terrence Malick is. Eccentric genius? Reclusive philosopher? Well, while that is open for speculation, the oddball facts about Malick are a bit more fun to toss around, such as his apparent love for "Zoolander." What else does he like? Dancing.

We've seen a lot of set pics over the past few months of various actors dropping in to Terrence Malick's "Knight Of Cups" and his untitled music-set movie now filming in Austin. But Val Kilmer wins the prize for having the best snaps of any the stars caught on camera. Of all the people who are going to end up getting cut from this movie, here's hoping he isn't.

According to THR, the folks who represent "Skyfall" Bond girl Bérénice Marlohe are determined not to let her career fall into the rut of so many who came before, those who featured alongside 007, only to be forgotten. But if you're looking for expsoure, we'd second guess casting her in a movie where the likelihood of getting cut and replaced with a shot of an undulating wheat field is very high.

It would be a news piece about a Terrence Malick movie if you didn't have to decipher the clues first. But alas, his untitled movie that isn't "Knight of Cups" continues to shoot and seems to have revealed yet another cast member, so just bear with us as we run down the evidence.
