Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence)
In the genre of movies involving people being sewn together mouth-to-ass, director Tom Six is the undisputed king. He's made a niche career out of a couple of truly revolting films, staring with "The Human Centipede (First Sequence)," which was followed by "The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence)." Now he's bringing the third installment "The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence)" and your first look at the movie doesn't have anyone on their knees.

Oh, this is still a thing? If you missed it, director Tom Six sort of made a name for himself by digusting horror fans with his ass-to-mouth horror "classics," "The Human Centipede (First Sequence)" and "The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence)." Quality of the films withstanding, enough people were curoius enough to see a demented doctor stitch mouths to anuses, that a third entry was announced a couple years back, "The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence)." But last spring, Six and his star Dieter Laser fell out over the script (lol) and not much has been heard since. But don't worry gross out fans, the duo and the movie are back on deck.

Update: Dieter Laser has responded to Screenread with his side of what happened and how it affected his approach to the role: "It’s very simple: I loved the story when it was told, got the contract and the promise to have the script in 4 to 6 weeks. When it arrived – half a year later and only after the official announcement – I didn’t like the realization at all, couldn’t identify with the character the way it was written and developed immediately and enthusiastically in a day and night marathon a version full of concrete and practical suggestions which would enable me to play the lead full throttle – same procedure as with Dr. Heiter – but this time it also would have had some unavoidable effects to the dramatic structure. That was too much for Tom and since he couldn’t live with my suggestions and I as a method actor couldn’t identify with his version, I told him that I couldn’t see any other way than that he would have to ‘change horses’. That’s it.”

Well, say what you will about Tom Six and his 'Human Centipede' franchise, but the man has a vision. A twisted, nauseauting vision, but one that is singular, no matter how disturbing it is. And he's seeing it through to the end. The director has been talking up "The Human Centipede 3 (Full Sequence)" since last fall, and with his leading man Dieter Laser now officially confirmed, he hit Twitter to let you know how fucking gross the last movie will be.

After seeing the encyclopedic acts of horror on display in “The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence),” it’s hard to imagine that there’s too much more to do with the concept, short of capturing an actual rape or murder on camera. But writer-director Tom Six, who premiered his sequel at Austin’s Fantastic Fest last week, said he has plenty more ideas where those for the first two films came from. “When I was writing the first script, I had so many ideas that I couldn’t put them in one film,” Six explained in a recent interview with The Playlist.

Is Tom Six a filmmaker? Is Tom Six a storyteller? No, at this point, you’ll have to conclude he is neither of these things. What he is represents something maybe more honest, more pure: he’s a provocateur. In making “The Human Centipede: First Sequence,” Six took a memorably deranged subject of medical dubiousness and turned it into a taut, often surprisingly funny shock fest, notable for its actual restraint considering the risible content. Lambasted for being a one-joke (one-gag?) premise, Six took advantage of a memorably deranged turn by Dieter Laser to produce a sterile, cold minor classic within the horror genre.

Few people have bothered going back and checking out director Tom Six’s back catalogue since “The Human Centipede (First Sequence)” became a minor cultural and cinematic phenomenon, and this writer is not among them. So perhaps “Gay in Amsterdam” is a masterpiece, but it’s doubtful the director will ever be remembered as anything other than the guy who made those forcible ass-to-mouth horror movies. If you’ve been holding out for the sequel “The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence)” (and frankly why aren’t you watching "Tucker & Dale vs Evil" or waiting for Ti West’s “The Innkeepers” or something that seems half-way interesting?) it's time to put down the hastily sewn erotic tea doilies inspired by the film that you’ve been spending your evenings darning. That’s right, the wait is almost over: the second centipede comes on October 7th, according to Shock Til You Drop.
