10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesFor those looking for a nod to the '70s, Tarantino has a remix of James Brown's "The Payback" featuring 2Pac, along with an FM wonder by Jim Croce. New songs are here as well including "100 Black Coffins" by Playlist fave and GQ's "Bawse Of The Year" Rick Ross, a new tune by John Legend and -- to go along with all the other Ennio Morricone -- a new tune from the famed composer titled "Ancora Qui." All said, this is going to be dramatic, stirring stuff, but also some good tracks to backdrop QT's usually outlandish tales.
“In addition to the new original songs I am also using a lot of older recordings on the soundtrack – many of which came from my personal vinyl collection. Instead of having the record companies give me new digitally cleaned up versions of these recordings from the 60’s and 70’s, I wanted to use the vinyl I’ve been listening to for years – complete with all the pops and cracks," Tarantino said. "I even kept the sound of the needle being put down on the record. Basically because I wanted people’s experience to be the same as mine when they hear this soundtrack for the first time.”
The soundtrack drops on December 18th before the movie opens wide on Christmas Day. Tracklisting and samples below.

Me thinks I see Ingrid Rock's fingers in this pie somewheres.......it would explain the song choice anyway...

Please, they had to pick the 1 song Croce's that he didn't write? 'I got a name' is as overproduced and thereby as far away from thetrue Jim Croce sound as you can possibly get. Gonna have to give this choice a big 'pee you'.

Rap music in a movie from the slavery era? How the hell does that work?

No shock about the Ennio Morricone. Rick Ross in a QT film? Bad ass.

I think I would've taken the Frank Ocean song than anything by John Legend. That guy is so fucking dull.
