It's officially official, though there was never any doubt: Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are back for the completely necessary sequels, "Avatar 2," "Avatar 3" and "Avatar 4." But lest you think this saga will end there, here's some news that perhaps suggests the franchise can live on beyond.

THR reports that while Jake Sully and Neytiri will be back (same too for Stephen Lang's resurrected Marine Colonel Quaritch), the interspecies couple will have kids now. We're sure that decision has nothing to do with ground breaking this week at Disney's Animal Kingdom "Avatar" attraction. That aside, we can only imagine it opens up the possibility of movies (or dare we say spinoffs) expanding beyond the central couple in the film. This is only a guess, but in this climate of world-building franchises, it's not hard to imagine those conversations might be had.

Production is expected to begin this fall, with the three sequels will dropping in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
