10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesDirector Fede Alvarez, revealed on Twitter today: "@woozytribe Was proud of scoring a NC17 when submitted! But we had to cut stuff out to get an R and get the film into theaters." Of course, this isn't the first or last time a movie will be edited for ratings, but it does suggest that the intensity of the trailers so far isn't just a bunch of clever editing. It certainly positions the movie as something that takes the Sam Raimi original and puts it into a whole other sphere, but the question remains as to whether or not the end result will be succesful.
However, an already confirmed slot at SXSW points to some confidence from the studio and on April 12th you might want to pack an extra pair of underpants on your way to the theater. [ScreenCrush]

Female lead, male lead so what? Is the female Anglo Saxon?
Please save your coin then Leon, sitting next to a naysaying cynic who shits on every part of a film is always a delight.
