Before Chiwetel Ejiofor shows off his awards season stuff this fall in "12 Years A Slave" he'll take a supporting role in this month's "Savannah," with Jim Caviezel in the lead. The tale of Southern life is based on a true story and today we have an exclusive clip from the movie to give you a little preview of what's to come.

The film tells the life story of Ward Allen (Caviezel), an Oxford educated man who instead of taking the expected career path such an education would provide, teams with Christmas Moultrie (Ejiofor) — a man born into slavery, but now free — and starts a business providing the town of Savannah with ducks they hunt and kill themselves. The problem? New laws have made their way of life illegal, but that doesn't stop them one bit. As you'll see in the scene below their fiery and eloquent defences in court make them local heroes, while also allowing them to skip the long arm of the law.

Co-starring Jaimie Alexander, Hal Holbrook, Sam Shepard and Jack McBrayer, "Savannah" opens in limited release on August 23rd and will be available on VOD starting on September 24th. Watch below.
