By now you've seen us heap no small amount of superlatives on "Short Term 12," the little indie that could that has been winning over critics and audiences so far this year playing SXSW (where it won Grand Jury and Audience Award for Narrative Feature), Los Angeles, BAMcinemaFest, Seattle and Nantucket. It certainly has been winning over every Playlist member who has caught up with the flick, and there's a good reason it made our list of 13 Films You Should See In August. And with the release date drawing closer, we've got an exclusive peek at the picture that highlights the captivating drama that is earning no shortage of praise.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, and starring Brie Larson, Rami Malek ("The Master") and John Gallagher Jr. ("The Newsroom"), the film follows the lives of workers at a short-term foster care facility, and in particular Grace (Larson) and her troubled charge, Jayden (Kaitlyn Dever). And as you'll see the in the clip below, the line between the personal and professional is blurred in a job that requires these brave workers to connect with these kids but also keep a distance as well, a balance that's difficult to achieve.

"Short Term 12" opens in opens in select theaters on August 23rd and will expand from there. To see when it will come near you, visit the official site. Check out the clip and a set of posters for the movie below.
