While we all know the big titles that emerge out of the Sundance Film Festival every year, it's easy to forget there are smaller gems as well, which are not only worth tracking down but that also have earned their fair share of acclaim. In 2012, "Violeta Went To Heaven" won the World Cinema Dramatic Jury Prize in Park City, went on to appear at festivals around the world including stops in Miami, Oslo and Hamburg, and earned a Goya nomination Best Iberoamerican Film. The picture is gearing to hit theaters this spring, and we have the exclusive poster below.

Directed by Andrés Wood and starring Francisca Gavilán, the film tells the story of famed Chilean folk singer Violetta Parra, a centerpiece of the Latin American folk music movement, who made a significant cultural impact in her country's history. While the name might not be familiar to folks in North America, her music may be, as her most famous song "Gracias a la Vida" ("Thanks To Life") has been covered by everyone from Joan Baez to Michael Buble. The film is based on the memoirs of the singer's son, Ángel Parra, who is also a musician, and worked with Gavilán on the soundtrack, which you can listen to right here.

"Violeta Went To Heaven" will open in New York City on March 29th, rolling out across the country and expanding nationwide over the following weeks. Check out the full poster below.
