Exclusive: Poster For Sundance Beltway Snipers Drama 'Blue Caprice'

While all eyes are currently on the fall festival season, it's always easy to forget that the cinematic year already has a strong crop of movies that have already had their red carpet rollout and are gearing up to hit theaters. And one to keep an eye out for is "Blue Caprice," which premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival. Starring Isaiah Washington, Tequan Richmond, Joey Lauren Adams and Tim Blake Nelson, it's based on the chilling true story of the Beltway Sniper, who kept Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia at a standstill in October 2002 but randomly killing people along Interstate 95 with no apparent rhyme or reason.

We have yet to see it as we missed it at Sundance, but our Indiewire pals saw it and say it takes on the unenviable task of making the audience sympathize with the infamous Beltway snipers and making them human. " 'Blue Caprice' displays a willingness to stand apart from judgement and strike an investigative gaze," they wrote about the film. Intense, dramatic stuff indeed, and it's a mood nicely reflected in the exclusive poster down below. Here's the official synopsis:
The striking feature film debut of writer-director Alexandre Moors, BLUE CAPRICE is a harrowing yet restrained psychological thriller about an abandoned boy lured to America into the shadows of a dangerous father figure. Inspired by true events, BLUE CAPRICE investigates the notorious and horrific Beltway sniper attacks from the point of view of the two perpetrators, whose distorted father-son relationship facilitated their long and bloody journey across America. Marked by captivating performances by Isaiah Washington and Tequan Richmond, lyrical camerawork, and a unique and bold structure, BLUE CAPRICE documents the mechanisms that lead its subjects to embrace physical violence. BLUE CAPRICE paints a haunting depiction of two cold-blooded killers and a riveting portrait of 21st-century America.

Directed by Alexandre Moors"Blue Caprice" will open in select theaters on September 13th and on demand and iTunes September 17th via Sundance Selects.
