Yes, Jesse Eisenberg and Melissa Leo have made their first film together with "Why Stop Now." But while they are both known for being solid dramatic actors, the feature debut from writing and directing pair Phil Dorling and Ron Nyswaner finds them exercising their excellent comic skills instead.
Co-starring Tracy Morgan, "Why Stop Now" tells the story of Eli (Eisenberg), a piano prodigy who is getting ready for an audition that will determine his future and career. However, his responsibilties to his sister and drug-addicted mother (Leo) may get in the way. Given the simple task of dropping off his Mom at rehab, things take an unexpected turn, forcing him to enlist the help of an unlikely ally, her drug dealer Sprinkles (Morgan). The day spirals downhill quickly, and the hapless team must collaborate every step of the way to battle their own demons and get Eli out of the rabbit hole. This exclusive clip from the film (which also features the always excellent Isiah Whitlock Jr.) showcases all four in a frenzied car ride and gives a nice peek at the comic energy Eisenberg, Leo and Morgan bring to the picture.
"Why Stop Now" is now available to watch on SundanceNOW, VOD and other digital platforms (iTunes, Amazon Streaming, PS3, XBOX) and it will hit theaters August 17th. Check out the clip below.
