10 Essential Cinematic Antiheroes
To be honest we haven't really been paying attention to "Faster," mostly because it looks like another dumb Dwayne Johnson action flick, so color us surprised when we learned that one our favorite composers, and frequent Darren Aronofsky collaborator, Clint Mansell had done an original score for the film. Huh.
We gave the score a spin and you know what? It sounds pretty ace. If you've been a fan of Mansell's work in the past, his score for "Faster" is right in the same wheelhouse. Definitely one of the more "rock 'n roll" composers working, "Faster" delivers some finely wrought pieces that build to familiar crescendos, some pulsating tribal styled percussion heavy tunes and riff heavy runs. It's pretty exciting stuff. Rounding out the soundtrack are a selection of tracks including Iggy Pop's "I Wanna Be Your Dog" (sadly, a re-recorded version, not "The Stooges" original), The Heavy's "Short Change Hero" (thank god someone realized they wrote songs other than "How You Like Me Now?") and Kenny Rogers & The First Edition's "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)." There is also Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (aka Mr. Eko) singing "John The Revelator."
The soundtrack will hit digital outlets on November 23rd but if you must absolutely own the physical disc, you'll have to wait until January 4th. "Faster" drives into theaters on November 24th. Full tracklisting after the jump.
