While Josh Boone thus far has been known for directing the indie flick "Stuck In Love" and this summer's teen weepie hit "The Fault In Our Stars," it seems studios believe he can handle tougher fare. Warner Bros. already has him pegged for the three-hour adaptation of Stephen King's "The Stand," and now Universal wants the filmmaker put his stamp on a signature exponent of the vampire genre.
The Wrap reports that Boone is in early talks to write and direct "Lestat." The film will be a reboot of the Anne Rice book series, which saw previous movie adaptations via "Interview With The Vampire" in 1994 starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, and "Queen Of The Damned" in 2002 starring Stuart Townsend and Aaliyah (what weird times those were). Brian Grazer, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are each producing this time around, with Boone's movie to draw upon the books 'Queen' and "The Vampire Lestat."
While "The Stand" is up next for Boone, let the dreamcasting for Lestat begin....
