It appears that Robert Rodriguez is human. With a work ethic to rival James Franco, the filmmaker has been on a tear recently shooting "Machete Kills," "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For," and the fan-assisted short "Two Scoops," while lining up TV projects including a "From Dust 'Til Dawn" series and a Latino James Bond-type show of which he'll direct the pilot. It appears that something had to give in all this, and for those of you who have been waiting to revisit Sin City...well, you'll have to keep waiting...

Amid the starry cast, the sexy women and even sexier violence, it's easy to forget that "Sin City," and it's forthcoming sequel "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For," are some impressive feats of technology as well. Robert Rodriguez has devised a rather fascinating approach that both keeps the budget down, but also allows him plenty of creative flexibility and the ability to eliminate any kind of scheduling problems. Shooting mostly on green screen, the "Sin City" films use lots of CGI to give a stylish look at the fraction of the cost of trying to replicate it realistically, and thanks to digital and editing wizardry, cast members don't even have to be standing opposite each other in order to interact. And as he gets 'Dame' ready for release later this year, Rodriguez has given a little sneak preview.

Robert Rodriguez's CGI-heavy and visually stylistic "Sin City" movies require heavy technical demands, but also allow him a flexibility in filmmaking. Essentially, since everything is on green screens, and thanks to advances in technology, shooting can take place whenever cast members are available, and then everything can be stitched together afterward. Actors in the same scene don't necessarily don't have to be on the same set on the same day, so it's no surprise that as cameras keep rolling on "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For," new cast members are being added.

Bruce Willis had a pretty great 2012, all things considered. There were disappointments, to be sure: ill-conceived Henry Cavill vehicle "The Cold Light Of Day," Stephen Frears' tone-deaf "Lay The Favorite," a brief role in "The Expendables 2" and a straight-to-video picture called "Fire With Fire" alongside Josh Duhamel. But those weaknesses were certainly overshadowed by his far more visible strengths, with the actor giving two of his best performances in years, in Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom" and Rian Johnson's "Looper," the latter of which Willis has described as the best film he's ever been in.

2013 could prove to be the year of Robert Rodriguez. The prolific filmmaker has always been uber-productive, but this year, we'll get a double dose: he'll have two films hit theaters a month apart of each other. The first, "Machete Kills" will land in theaters on September 13th via Open Road and and then four weeks later, Dimension Films' "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For" will follow. And with cameras rolling on the highly anticipated follow-up to "Sin City," three more actors have joined the cast.

That was fast. Yesterday Joseph Gordon-Levitt joined Robert Rodriguez's "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For" and Josh Brolin was said to be one of the additional actors potentially joining the cast. Now Brolin is confirmed. Dimension Films announced today that Brolin has joined the "Sin City" sequel cast as “Dwight," the character that Clive Owen played in the original film for co-directors Rodriguez and Frank Miller. Evidently there's still one more big part up for grabs. The part of the titular “Dame” has yet to be cast.

One of the notable losses in entertainment this past year, actor Michael Clarke Duncan cut short with his passing a number of films ready to bring him on board, and a central example of such was Robert Rodriguez's “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For.” A notoriously quick filmmaker in all respects, Rodriguez has hit a number of delays in pushing the production forward that only increased with Duncan's death, but luckily another actor has stepped into the late actor's role to keep the film on track.
