Given that we've seen something from nearly every summer movie coming in the next three or four months, it might be easy to forget that there are still a couple yet to reveal themselves, and one that's on our radar is "Closed Circuit." Why? We'll, we'll give you a few reasons.

Firstly, it's penned by "Eastern Promises" scribe Steve Knight with John Crowley, the helmer behind the acclaimed "Boy A," directing. Moreover, it's got Eric Bana and Rebeca Hall in the lead roles, playing two ex-lovers and lawyers who find their loyalties tested and their lives at risk when they are joined together on the defense team in a terrorism trial. High quality supporting actors like Jim Broadbent, Ciarán Hinds and "Game of Thrones" theso Isaac Hemptstead Wright round out the cast. Some smart, adult fare to cap off a summer of spectacle and VFX? Let's hope so.

"Closed Circuit" arrives on August 28th. Check out the first images from the film.

Wow. Release date of August 28? There's a vote of confidence. That date is one tiny step above direct-to-video.

That's true, I remembered The Debt opening that weekend but had forgotten the others. I'm hopeful as everyone involved is talented. Still, the second half of August and the first half of September is generally a dumping ground.

Focus opened The Constant Gardener and The American on that date in previous years, and it worked pretty well (also, The Debt). Better than opening it in December and watching it get buried by more obviously awards-baity stuff.
