Review: 'The Immigrant'First up, "Mad Men" star January Jones trades '60s wear for 1800s gear in "Sweetwater," from directors Noah and Logan Miller. A pretty ace arrary of talent are on board for this one with Ed Harris, Jason Isaacs, Eduardo Noriega, Steven Rude and Amy Madigan co-starring. Here's the synopsis: In the late 1800s, a fanatical religious leader, a renegade Sheriff, and a former prostitute collide in a blood triangle on the rugged plains of the New Mexico Territory. Um yes, awesome.
Meanwhile, Jane Campion's six-hour mini-series "Top Of The Lake" will be shown in full (one time only folks, so be there or be square) and Jones' co-star on the AMC series, Elisabeth Moss, will be in the lead. And after a rather enigmatic first image, comes a new pic that finally shows us the actress. Here's the synopsis: A 12-year-old girl stands chest deep in a frozen lake. She is five months pregnant, and won't say who the father is. Then she disappears. So begins a haunting mystery that consumes a community.
''[Robin] kind of loses herself in this case,'' Moss told EW about her character who looks into the crime. ''It becomes very personal and reveals her very deep, complicated history with the town....there's a lot of dark humor, too. It will take you to places that will be uncomfortable for some people.''
The Sundance Film Festival runs from January 17-27, 2013.
