10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesHarvey's company is picking up the rights to "Grace of Monaco," the film directed by "La Vie En Rose" helmer Olivier Dahan, featuring Kidman playing none other than screen icon and royal, Grace Kelly. Set in 1962, when the city-state/tax haven of Monaco got into a heated dispute with France, Charles De Gaulle gave Kelly's husband Prince Rainer III six months to change his tax laws. The actress/royalty maneuvered behind the scenes to save Monaco from a coup. Tim Roth, Paz Vega, Parker Posey, Frank Langella and Milo Ventimiglia co-star and the Weinsteins are banking big on this one, paying a reported $4 million for the rights with a P&A commitment worth $10 million. Damn.
You can take a look at Kidman as Kelly in the first official images above and below. And with "Grace of Monaco" joining 'Mandela' and "August: Osage County," with an ensemble led by Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts, on Harvey's forthcoming roster, you can bet he'll be back once again at the Dolby Theater in 2014 in full force. Amy Adams would have been a perfect Grace Kelly. I don't understand how Nicole was cast in this. Adams is a superb talent and has a naturally beautiful face. She doesn't look botoxed into oblivion like Kidman.

I believe the film is set around Kelly's late 30s or early 40s so Kidman's age really isn't an issue.

Not at all appropriate to play Grace. Too old & too much work done to her face. Nicole's a talented woman but not right for the part January Jones resembles the princess most accurately but she's been typed cast as cold unfeeling women in every movie she's done so idk how great her acting chops are... & Grace was far from cold & unfeeling. Naomi Watts is a good runner up to January for resemblance to the princess & she's undeniably has the acting skills needed.
