Winding Refn Lively

After news of their teaming late last month, we now have our first look at the poster for Nicolas Winding Refn and Blake Lively's short film for fashion house Gucci, which is set to premiere during this year's Venice Film Festival.

It'll be fascinating to see what the two have created here and, perhaps, where this relationship will take the duo. Refn seems to develop strong working and personal relationships with his leads, having worked on multiple projects with Ryan Gosling and Mads Mikkelsen. With a television version of "Barbarella" in the works and a constant eye on "Wonder Woman," could Lively be part of Winding Refn's grander plans?

Despite her beginnings in "The Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants" and CW's "Gossip Girl,"  Lively first came to our attention in "The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee" where we called her "shining" performance "a revelation." She has since gone on to work with acclaimed helmers such as Ben Affleck and Oliver Stone, and has seemingly been a staple on wishlists and shortlists for any popular, leading role for a young female.

As we mentioned previously, hopefully Winding Refn's appearance at the Lido with this means his latest feature "Only God Forgives" will be there also -- the helmer also hinted at such on his twitter writing that the production's goal was to "be ready for [the] last week of August." Venice kicks off on August 29th with the Gucci flick to unspool on September 1st. [FashionCopious via Vulture]

Is this a joke? Why in the world would Refn make a film with Mumbles McGee? Also, while she isn't terrible in Savages, she certainly doesn't live up to her last name. Her interpretation of the character is all one note and completely uninspired. I actually was team Lively pre-Green Lantern, but now... I get all the "overrated" chatter surrounding her.
