Hold onto your mockingjay pins "Hunger Games" fans because you now have a look at the two beefy slabs of meat that will hang off the arms of Jennifer Lawrence in the upcoming film.
EW has dropped a look at their cover this week which features a notably buffed Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth in costume as Peeta and Gale in the highly anticipated adaptation of the first book in Suzanne Collins' best-selling trilogy. The duo play Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne respectively, the former an easy-going competitor in the gladiatorial games who harbors a secret crush on Katniss while the latter is her best friend and hunting partner. And oh yeah, he loves her too. RUH ROH. But don't worry, off screen, these two actors are like, total bros.
“I think it’s going to blow people’s minds when they see that Peeta and Gale are actually best friends in real life,” says Hutcherson. NO WAY.
Meanwhile, director Gary Ross seems smitten like a schoolgirl. “On first glance he’s such a hunk that it’s easy to just sort of ascribe a hunk-like simplicity to him,” he says about Hemsworth. “But this is a phenomenally subtle actor.”
Of course, the cast is rounded out by a mix of seasoned veterans (Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Toby Jones, Donald Sutherland), buzzed-about up-and-comers (Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth), random names (Wes Bentley, Lenny Kravitz) and many fresh new faces (too many to list). The film opens on on March 23, 2012.
