Lucy Punch Co-StarsFun fact: rising funnyman Tyler Labine -- seen this year in "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes" and "A Good Old Fashioned Orgy" -- is a graduate of the semi-legendary Canadian kids TV sitcom "Breaker High." His co-star? Ryan Gosling. It's like some kind of Canuck "Mickey Mouse Club" or something. And this is all to say that Labine, Malin Akerman and Lucy Punch have come aboard the dark comedy "Cottage Country" and there is already a first look at the film.

Lucy Punch Co-Stars

Fun fact: rising funnyman Tyler Labine -- seen this year in "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes" and "A Good Old Fashioned Orgy" -- is a graduate of the semi-legendary Canadian kids TV sitcom "Breaker High." His co-star? Ryan Gosling. It's like some kind of Canuck "Mickey Mouse Club" or something. And this is all to say that Labine, Malin Akerman and Lucy Punch have come aboard the dark comedy "Cottage Country" and there is already a first look at the film.

The indie film was penned by Jeremy Boxen ("Degrassi: The Next Generation", "Republic Of Doyle") and has Peter Wellington ("18 to Life," "Slings and Arrows") behind the camera in the story that follows Todd, who is anxious to create the perfect conditions at the family cottage where he plans to propose to Cammie (Akerman). But those plans are marred when he accidentally kills his brother and has Cammie help him cover up the crime and keep it from Masha (Punch), his sibling's girlfriend. So yes, it's high concept and if they can nail the tone, it could provide some amusing fun. Certainly, the trio of Labine, Akerman and Punch is promising.

In case you couldn't tell by the credits, the film is currently lensing in Canada (note the iconic The Bay blanket being worn by Akerman) for a 2012 release. Bigger image below.
