Terrence Davies doesn't make movies very often, but when he does, we sit up and pay attention because he is one of the masters. His last film was the documentary/memoir/tone poem "Of Time And The City," and that was four years ago. Eight years before then was "The House Of Mirth." So when it was announced that Rachel Weisz would be leading his latest effort, "The Deep Blue Sea," we nearly toppled over in excitement.

We now have our first look at the film, courtesy of Empire, and it finds Weisz and co-star Tom Hiddleston in a deep embrace for what promises to be a wrenching romance as the actors play Hester Collyer, the suicidal wife of a judge, and Freddie Page, a former RAF pilot, respectively, with the two locked in a destructive love affair in 1950s Britain.

Esteemed stage actor Simon Russell Beale rounds out the cast, playing the estranged husband of Weisz and the film promises to be an actor's playground. Filming wraps this week, and it has a shot at being ready for the Croisette in Cannes if that's what Davies wants to do. Either way, we expect it to premiere at some point in 2011, and we can't wait.
