Flying Monkeys & Mariah Carey? 'Oz The Great And Powerful' Just Got Real

There seems to be two kinds of weird going on at Disney. There's the "good weird" which results in the still somewhat shocking $1 billion dollar haul for Tim Burton's "Alice In Wonderland." And then there's the "bad weird," Andrew Stanton's dull, yet oddball, "John Carter." And now, their latest "good weird" hope, "Oz The Great And Powerful," is on the horizon, and if you thought flying monkeys were more than enough, how about a song by Mariah Carey?

That's right, the pop star, Grammy Award winner and "American Idol" judge has recorded "Almost Home," a new song for Sam Raimi's upcoming movie. Even more, famed fashion photograhper David LaChappelle (who also helmed the dance driven "Rize") will direct the official music video which is being described as “a duet between Mariah and the movie.” Which probably means "We're going to shoot Mariah Carey, and then cut with the footage from the film just like every other movie music video." Or maybe it will have flying monkeys. We hope. That said, LaChappelle also directed the video for Carey's "Loverboy" which is kinda bawse and classic so fingers crossed...

"Oz The Great And Powerful" opens on March 8th.
