After what seemed like a long period in the weeds following "Green Zone" and the collapse of 'Bourne 4,' Paul Greengrass looks poised for a comeback. Next fall brings his Tom Hanks-starring hostage drama "Captain Phillips" to the big screen, and just a couple of weeks ago it was reported that his Martin Luther King Jr. film is back on, with the wheels turning to make it his next effort. And now, he's got another movie percolating.

Variety reports that Greengrass will direct an untitled crime movie penned by "Argo" scribe Chris Terrio, that will have George Clooney and Grant Heslov producing through their Smokehouse banner. The tie between Clooney, Heslov and Terrio is no surprise given that the actor was originally going to helm "Argo" before stepping down to produce instead. The project would mark the first pairing between Clooney and Greengrass, but it's certainly nice to see these two talents bringing their skills to bear on the same gig. No story details yet except that the film takes place within New York crime syndicates.

Terrio is riding high at the moment, with "The Ends Of The Earth" set up at The Weinstein Company with Jennifer Lawrence attached and he also recently completed a draft of the "Tell No One" remake that has "Argo" director Ben Affleck linked to helm. It's all seems pretty early in the game on this one, but these players all teaming up will certainly draw some major attention, and that will hopefully keep development moving along swiftly.
