10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesThe film stars "Breaking Bad" badass Aaron Paul and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as a young alcoholic married couple who find their relationship put to the test when Winstead's character gives up the bottle. Supporting them is an equally strong cast, including Octavia Spencer ("The Help"), Nick Offerman ("Parks and Recreation"), Megan Mullally ("Will and Grace") and Mary Kay Place ("Being John Malkovich"), and they all delivered a film that picked up strong reviews at Sundance with particular raves being directed at Winstead's performance, which is generating some early Oscar buzz. Indeed our own review praised the actors in the film, while noting that "all of the pain and problem-solving here feel human and natural, never forced or contrived."
"Smashed" opens in limited release starting on October 12th.
