10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesBut here's the thing: Jack Reacher is no Ethan Hunt. While the latter is a seasonsed spy operative, the former is an ex-military investigator turned drifter, who packs a remarkable set of survival skills that allow him to handily and brutally take down anyone who gets in his way. Based on the character created by author Lee Child, and more specifically on the book "One Shot," this potential franchise starter sees Reacher get involved in the case of a sniper accused of murdering five people. But as always, there's deeper treachery afoot.
And that evil comes in the form of Werner Herzog -- being kept hidden from the marketing, perhaps to serve as a bigger surprise -- and in Jai Courtney, who as the new pics and clips below reveals, is a formidable foe. But Reacher is not really driven by any morals or cause except his own satisfaction, which makes him equally deadly.
"Jack Reacher" dodges the law on December 21st. And if that's not enough Action Cruise for you, the previously rumored early 2013 bow for "Top Gun" in IMAX 3D is now slated to hit theaters on February 8th. And yes, in case you're wondering, Tony Scott "contributed and responded enthusiastically" to the transfer before his death. [ComingSoon]
