The director has been a favorite of the festival for some time, picking up the Golden Camera award for his debut film "Japan" and winning the Jury Prize for what is arguably his most acclaimed effort to date, 2007's "Silent Light." Now IonCinema has dug up a batch of images for "Post Tenebras Lux" and if nothing else, this is going to be one of the most visually alluring films on the Croisette. Reygadas has a very strong eye behind the camera, and that's in full effect here with pictures that could work as standalone photographs.
And perhaps true to Reygadas style, the official plot synopsis is both obscure and enticing all at once: Juan and his young urban family live in the countryside of Mexico. There, they enjoy and suffer a world that understands life in a different way. Juan wonders if those worlds are complementary or, truly, they fight unconsciously to eliminate one another.
The Cannes Film Festival runs from May 16-27. Check out the images below.

Sounds (plotwise) and looks very similar to Tree of Life. Which is a good thing!
