The lives of one of these two guys is going to change dramatically. Last month it emerged that Marvel was taking a look at a battery of actors to take the lead in their upcoming "Guardians Of The Galaxy" including Joel Edgerton, Jack Huston, Lee Pace, Eddie Redmayne, Jim Sturgess, Garrett Hedlund, James Marsden and Sullivan Stapleton. Now, one of those people has survived the cut, with one other new face now joining the greatly reduced shortlist to play Peter Quill.

Jim Sturgess and "Chuck" star Zachary Levi are said to be the names Marvel is looking at to lead their ambitious film. Here's the simplified version of the character's backstory: He crash lands on Earth as a baby and is raised by humans. He eventually works at NASA, gets sent to a space station, where he encounters Master Of The Sun, who names him the next Star-Lord. Fast-forward a bit and he's part of the Guardians Of The Galaxy, who team up with The Avengers to fight Thanos. Sturgess would be new to the Marvel world, but it should be noted that Levi already has a role as Fandral in "Thor: The Dark World." It's a bit odd that in the carefully constructed Marvel universe, they want the actor to play a different role in another movie. Hmmm.....

But Marvel isn't putting all their apples in this cart (is that a metaphor?), with Variety adding that the studio may add a third name into the mix after the holidays. So this shortlist could become longer, as testing tends to go in Hollywood. But any thoughts? Can these guys lead a superhero movie? Tell us below.

They just lost me, screw that. Lee is the only one that would have brought me into the theater. Oh well, on to Iron Man 3.

And here I was hoping Lee Pace would land that role...

I know. I love Lee Pace. Lee held his own opposite so many heavy hitters in Lincoln. He is the real deal. He would have been wonderful.

    Jack Huston.

These guys can both barely act their way out of a paper bag. "Sturgess charisma free"? Fuck yes.

Maybe Levi's role got cut from "Thor 2"? (Are they even in postproduction yet?) I hope they don't make Fandral the Star-Lord, his goofiness doesn't fit the leader of The Guardians. By the way, Sturgess was in "Legend of the Guardians", could Variety have maybe mixed up the Marvel movie with the sequel to Zack Snyder's film? After that film's and this month's "Rise of the Guardians" underwhelming BO maybe Marvel might change the new of their new franchise.

Sturgess is charisma free. Awful choice but then these films dont require much acting chops.

I hope the raccoon has sex with a human, like Howard the duck did. Suggestion: Cast Nicki Minaj as a space popstar rapper that falls in love with and has sex with the talking raccoon.

    Jim Sturgess

Being cast as a c-class superhero in a team-up movie..... does it change the guy's life dramatically?
Surely it changed RDJ's and Hemsworth's but not so much for Evans, other Avenger members, and ... Brandon Routh, who once played the big daddy of all superheroes. There are too many superhero movies right now and too many actors are already involved in those projects as leading, supporting, and antagonist roles.

Sturgess for sure. Levi is already part of the Marvel universe so this doesn't make much sense.

It's okay to cast The Human Torch as Captain America because they're both set in different universes but casting the same actor for two different movies which take place in the same universe just seems silly, I don't mind Levi but I don't see why Marvel is so crazy on him he needs to be cast twice. Sorry dude but you lucked out with a lesser role in Thor 2, take it and go.

    Jim Sturgess FTW!!

Does the public actually want to see this film, let alone know what the hell it is? Isn't this Marvel thing already jumping the shark?
