So what does director David Yates do after helming four movies in the mega 'Harry Potter' franchise? So what does director David Yates do after helming four movies in the mega 'Harry Potter' franchise? Well despite having a plethora of potential big movies to choose from ("The Stand," the gangster epic "Cicero," the fairy tale flick "Fables") he's made a pretty interesting shift in direction, choosing something a bit more intimate in scope.

The director will take on the feature film adaptation of screenwriter Emma Forrest's memoir "Your Voice In My Head."  The writer behind "Liars (A-E)" -- once set to be directed by Richard Linklater before it tragically fell apart -- penned the candid book about her battle with self-destructive behavior and how she was saved by a compassionate psychiatrist. While many like to use her former relationship with Colin Farrell as the focal point for any conversation about the book, she told us at the beginning of the year after the rights to her book were picked up, "this is a memoir about the doctor who saved me, not the Colin Farrell train."

"It's a small film, hard hitting and with elements of magic realism. Compared to 'Potter' it would cost tuppency ha'penny, and for that reason it would be incredibly liberating to make," Yates said about the upcoming film to Variety. And frankly, it's pretty exciting. Undoubtedly, Yates could have taken an easier road, with another brand/property, but it's kind of awesome he's using his post-'Potter' clout to do something smaller, and flex some different muscles.

Forrest wrote the screenplay which takes place in New York, London and Istanbul. Lensing on the British production will take place next summer. So it looks like "Doctor Who" will have to wait for now.
