"The Muppets" is finally starting to roll out internationally, which means a number of things. Firstly, those of us who live outside the U.S. finally get to see the film. Hurrah! And secondly, it means that the stars of the film finally get to respond to some of the political criticism aimed at them during the film's U.S. release.

"The Muppets" is finally starting to roll out internationally, which means a number of things. Firstly, those of us who live outside the U.S. finally get to see the film. Hurrah! And secondly, it means that the stars of the film finally get to respond to some of the political criticism aimed at them during the film's U.S. release.

Wait, hold up. Political criticism? Of...The Muppets? Well, indeed. Back in early December, the repulsive scumbags on Fox News aired a segment on the show "Follow The Money," which suggested that when writers Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller made the villain of their film an evil tycoon named Tex Richman (or as "Follow The Money" host Eric Bolling articulately refers to him, "oil muppet evil man"), who wants to demolish the Muppet studios in order to drill for oil under it, it was part of  a liberal plot to brainwash children into hating corporations.

It's a pretty jaw-dropping piece, which you can watch below, and to refute every single piece of willful ignorance by Bolling and company would take all day, but thankfully we don't have to, because Kermit & Miss Piggy have done it for us. The felt superstars were in London yesterday to promote the movie, and when asked at a press conference about the Fox News controversy, responded with typical wit and grace.

Said Kermit, "It's a funny thing, they were concerned about us having some prejudice against oil companies, and I can tell you that's categorically not true. And besides, if we had a problem with oil companies, why would we spend the entire film driving around a gas-guzzling Rolls-Royce?" One point to the little green guy. And his longtime love Miss Piggy followed up with the knockout blow. "It's almost as laughable as accusing Fox News of being, you know, news."

Of course it's much more fun to watch them say it, which you can do in the video below. If you want to brainwash your kids any further, "The Muppets" opens this week in Greece, Portugal, Italy and Spain, before hitting theaters in the U.K. and Ireland on February 10th, while the DVD and Blu-Ray hit U.S. stores on March 20th. [Best Week Ever]
