“This Is Where I Leave You” will have us watching based on its leads alone, but now Stoll will join Tina Fey and Jason Bateman in the adaptation of a Jonathan Tropper novel. The film will follow a dysfunctional family in which the father’s death forces the four grown siblings to spend a week together in the house where they grew up for the first time in a decade. Stoll will play Bateman’s brother, and given that Fey has already been announced as playing Bateman’s sister, it looks like that’s three of the four siblings signed up. Meanwhile, Jane Fonda has also joined as the recently widowed Hillary Foxman, the matriarch of the family.
The film was originally set up for Adam Shankman to direct with Bateman, Goldie Hawn, Leslie Mann, Zac Efron and Malin Akerman attached. That was a pretty great cast, and although Bateman is the only one to have stuck around with Levy, it looks like there’s the potential to at least match it. Stoll oddly looks to be taking over the Zac Efron role, and we’re now looking forward to seeing who’ll take over the other roles with the project apparently on the fast track at Warner Bros.
