10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesWe're sure James Marsden is a perfectly nice guy, but we can't think of a more vanilla and milquetoast screen presence than him. So with a thorough shrugging of our shoulders comes the news he's joined "2 Guns" with Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington. "Contraband" helmer Baltasar Kormakur directs the film about two lawmen—a DEA agent and a NAVY Seal—who investigate each other as each have been tasked to steal mob money. Marsden will play a naval commandar and joins Edward James Olmos, Paula Patton and Bill Paxton in the flick. [Variety]
Meanwhile, Catherine Keener re-ups with Judd Apatow for the first time since "The 40 Year-Old Virgin" as he's producing "Once" director John Carney's "Can A Song Save Your Life?" Keener has come aboard the film about a singer (Keira Knightley) who moves to New York, only to be dumped by her boyfriend (Maroon 5’s Adam Levine). But a down-on-his-luck record producer (Mark Ruffalo) discovers her singing in a bar, and sets out to make her a star, with romance presumably blossoming soon after. She'll play Cassyl, Ruffalo's estranged wife; production starts in New York City soon. [Deadline]
Lastly, James Woods and a batch of other folks (Ron Eldard, John Getz, Lesley Ann Warren) have joined "Jobs," the Steve Jobs biopic that has Ashton Kutcher as the tech whiz/guru/tyrant. The project is now filming, but there's no word on Woods' role, but we're still stuck on Kutcher = Jobs. Really? [THR]
