Update 11/19: Variety confirm that yes, R2-D2 will appear in "Star Wars: Episode 7." And let's face it, that probably mean C-3PO will be there too.

While an official name hasn't been decided yet, a release date has been set, one that Disney folks promise will give J.J. Abrams and his creative team the perfect amount of time to "optimize quality." And while there is still so much more to come in terms casting, official story details, logos, posters and countless other minute updates until the movie hits in 2015, here's something that will get fan hearts fluttering.

Abrams' production company Bad Robot tweeted a pic today of the director with producer Kathleen Kennedy, two other dudes and R2-D2. ZOMG! IS THE DROID IN THE SEUQEL? We could speculate away on what this all means but mostly, we're just curious how many levels of approval that tweet had to go through before whichever intern was allowed to press send. Anyway, see you on December 18, 2015.

Is this even a question that needs to be asked? R2 and 3PO will be in every main episode of Star Wars ever.

What Rodie said. It's not even a question, folks. The droids will be in every Star Wars movie ever made.

I have an idea: "Let's bring back every character from the original trilogy." That worked so well in the prequels.

That comment makes no sense whatsoever. That's not what they did or even attempted to do in the Prequel Trilogy.
