Review: 'The Immigrant'The two filmmakers have been collaborating since Franco’s 2010 directorial debut “Saturday Night,” which followed the making of an episode of “Saturday Night Live” and has yet to be released despite having a distributor. Get on it Oscilloscope! As he did with “Kink,” Franco is again stepping in as a producer with Voros helming the documentary that will revolve around fasion house Gucci and its creative director Frida Giannini.
The subject isn’t entirely out of left field -- unlike, say, a documentary on BDSM porn -- as Franco acted as the official face of Gucci’s men’s fragrance line in 2008. There’s no timeline on when we’ll eventually see the film but based on the pair’s previous history, we wouldn’t be surprised if it came out next week. And when will we see Franco, the actor, on screen again? Well, he’s set to have a killer spring as he appears in both Harmony Korine’s cult-hit-in-the-making “Spring Breakers” and Sam Raimi’s “Oz The Great And Powerful.” Or you might just see him outside doing a performance art piece.
