It’s no secret that the past decade has seen Tim Burton in a creative slump, but with the Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz-starring “Big Eyes,” he’s set to escape his blockbuster rut. Now THR is reporting that the film is getting another actor outside of Burton’s regular troupe.

Frequent Wes Anderson collaborator Jason Schwartzman has joined the comedic drama as a San Francisco art gallery owner named Ruben. Written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, “Big Eyes” follows the true story of married couple Walter and Margaret Keane (Waltz and Adams), who became art world phenomenons in the 1950s and 1960s thanks to their paintings of large-eyed children, and the legal battle that ensued when they split up. Schwartzman also joins Krysten Ritter and Danny Huston.

Ron Howard’s adaptation of “In The Heart Of The Sea” has picked up another crew member in Cillian MurphyDeadline is reporting that he’ll play the second mate, Matthew Joy. His superiors, of course, are Chris Hemsworth as first mate and Benjamin Walker as a first-time captain in over his head. The whale attack and shipwreck at the heart of the true-story was what inspired the novel Moby Dick.

Patricia Clarkson, per EW, has joined the adaptation of the young-adult novel -- yes, there’s another one -- “The Maze Runner.” The first of a planned trilogy, the film follows a group of teenage boys who wake and find themselves in an ever-changing maze. Clarkson will play someone important to the mystery of the maze. The film hits theaters next year on February 14th, 2014.
