Jason Schwartzman To Guest on 'Parks & Recreation'

Until recently, "Parks & Recreation" have been modest with their guest stars, forgoing the "30 Rock" approach of just getting famous people to show, and instead bringing on collaborators that generally elevate the proceedings. For example: Megan Mulally and Patricia Clarkson as Ron Swanson's ex-wives, Detlef Schrempf as himself, Ben Schwartz as Jean-Ralphio and Andy Samberg as the loud Carl. And that careful approach seems to be continuing, as the show has lined up another great guest.

Jason Schwartzman will appear in an episode in 2013, sometime before the season is out, playing Dennis Lerpiss, the owner of the Pawnee VideoDome. In the show, Dennis will be working with Amy Poehler's Lesley Knope to designate the store a historical landmark. Hilarity will probably ensue. Schwartzman + 'Parks & Rec'? Yeah, pretty much a no brainer, and the actor is just as good on the small screen as he is at the multiplex. Evidence? HBO's "Bored To Death," or even way back when with his brief stint on "Freaks & Geeks" as the clothing store employee/fake ID entrepreneur. Just when I thought they couldnât top their already star-studded list of guests, they go and give us an early Christmas present with this announcement! I just wish I knew what day this episode was airing, so I could be sure to check it out. A few friends from my office at DISH thought they heard it could be some time in February, but no one is certain. At least I'm guaranteed to have the episode recorded, regardless of not knowing which date it falls on, since my DISH Hopper DVR's PrimeTime Anytime feature automatically records Parks and everything else on the major networks during primetime hours. I've never anticipated a Parks and Rec more!
