We have to admit, when we first heard that an offer was out to Jeff Bridges for the generically titled “The Last Apprentice" (now known under its new and equally generic title "The Seventh Son"), we figured it was a pie-in-the-sky wishlist thing that would never happen. Guess we were wrong.
JustJared reports that Jeff Bridges has actually signed on the film based on the book series “The Wardstone Chronicles” by Joseph Delaney. The series involves Thomas J. Ward, the seventh son of a seventh son in the 1700s who discovers he has the ability to see creatures of the dark, and trains to become a ‘Spook’ in order to fight evil. Jeff Bridges will play an exorcist who trains Tom (an offer is out to Alex Pettyfer for that role), while an offer has been sent to Jennifer Lawrence for the role of a suspected witch.
Russian director Sergey Bodrov (”Mongol”) has long been attached to helm the film, which is set up at Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. With Bridges aboard this project (we're still kind of shock) the film now has legitimate momentum behind it and we'll be surprised if Pettyfer and Lawrence don't follow suit.
