First it was board games, then it was young adult novels and now it’s darker takes on classic children’s tales. And Variety is reporting that we’ll soon see yet another take on the boy who wouldn’t grow up.

Atonement” and “Hanna” director Joe Wright is in talks to helm a “Peter Pan” origin story for a franchise-hungry Warner Bros., with very little known about the plot other than the likely inclusion of Neverland and the iconic villain Captain Hook. For those of you keeping track at home, this latest project is the fourth Pan-related project announced in the past two years.

There’s the Aaron Eckhart-starring (as Captain Hook) “Peter Pan” that was formerly a potential directorial outing for Guillermo Del Toro that has seemingly disappeared two years later, the Channing Tatum-produced “Neverland” announced last year with “Warrior” director Gavin O’Connor at the helm, and a modern-day “re-imagining of the Peter Pan mythology” for the small screen called “The League Of Pan.”

It’s unclear where exactly this leaves Wright’s long-brewing live-action take on “The Little Mermaid” that added “Fifty Shades Of Grey” screenwriter Kelly Marcel to the pot earlier this summer. Maybe he’s serious about waiting out “this weird fucking onslaught of fairty tale adaptations.” In the meantime, you can place your bets on which “Peter Pan” project pans out—sorry, we had to—below.
