Jon Hamm Eyes An 'Epic Fail'

Despite being the lead of one of the most critically-acclaimed -- and arguably the best -- drama on TV right now and being the kind of handsome they don’t make anymore, Jon Hamm hasn’t yet invaded the silver screen -- outside of “The Town” and "Friends With Kids" -- in a big way. But he's working to change that, with the baseball drama "Million Dollar Arm" among some other percolating projects, and now a project that would see him using his toolbox of funny.

The actor is eyeing a role in the comedy "Epic Fail," written by first time screenwriter Kevin Costello. Hamm would star as “a down-on-his-luck high school teacher who recruits two students to stage his wife’s kidnapping so he can play the hero and rekindle their marriage.” As proven by his various appearances on “30 Rock” and “Saturday Night Live,” and his cameo as the douchebag in “Bridesmaids” -- not to mention "The Greatest Event In Television History" -- Hamm has a real knack for comedy so this should be great showcase for his talents (which will be on display first in Larry David's upcoming HBO movie "Clear History").

It’s still early in the process however, and Hamm hasn’t signed on the dotted line just yet, but he would be directed by ESPN and “Monday Night Football” veteran Mark Teitelman in his feature-length directorial debut. We’d imagine that once Hamm officially signs on, everything will start falling into place. [Variety]
