With "Mad Men" heading into another hiatus, Hamm has some more time on his hands, and has lined up quite a few things to keep him busy: he'll lead baseball drama "Million Dollar Arm" for Disney, is starring in the U.K. miniseries "The Young Doctor's Handbook" with Daniel Radcliffe, and has "Dumb Jock" with fellow "Bridesmaids" alumnus Paul Feig and Melissa McCarthy in the works. And now he's got something else on the way with two comedy heavyweights.
It was announced a few weeks ago that "Curb Your Enthusiasm" creator/star Larry David and "Superbad" director Greg Mottola were teaming up for a new, partially-improvised comedy, and now Showbiz411 report that Hamm is in the final stages to join them, in a part described as David's 'nemesis.' Plot details are still under wraps -- in part because they're still being worked out -- but the site says that David will, quelle surprise, play a character much like, but not called, Larry David. In fairness, he did play a nun in "The Three Stooges," so he has shown some range.
Either way, we're pretty psyched to see Hamm get to show off his big-screen muscles, and the idea of him squaring off with David is pretty funny already, not least with the super-talented Mottola (whose pilot for Aaron Sorkin's "The Newsroom" airs this Sunday on HBO) at the helm. Filming should get underway in the fall for a late 2013 release.
