Joss Whedon Says 'The Avengers' DVD/Blu-Ray Will Have 30 Minutes Of Deleted Scenes

We shouldn't really be surprised by this, given that it's Joss Whedon we're dealing with, but it looks like that when it comes to "The Avengers" it seems like there's no end to the awesomeness in sight. Whedon delivered a kick-ass five-star blockbuster to an international crowd, and stepped things up a notch further by adding a second post-credits sting to the version that played to North American audiences this weekend. $200 million record breaking dollars later and he's still not done, with Whedon dropping some hints to Collider about what may turn up on what's now the most anticipated DVD/Blu-ray of the year.

How many minutes of deleted scenes can we look forward on said Blu-ray? "At least 30," says Whedon, who went on to confirm that his "assembly cut" of the film was three hours long. At least some of that will be made up of a sequence inside Captain America's New York apartment showing him not relating to the world, with Whedon saying that most of those deleted scenes would be full of more ancillary character based stuff.

We don't think we'd have wanted to see a three hour cut of the film play in cinemas, because even as good as it was, the second act sagged a little even with a shorter 140 minute running time. But when it comes to the DVD we'd be happy to sit through the extra content, whether that be in the form of an extended cut or just a reel of deleted scenes. Whedon said he didn't want to deliver a three hour cut because that ran the risk of becoming too self-indulgent, but for the home video version we think he's probably earned that right.

The movie is a must watch for the people. An amazing sci-fi movie featuring aliens and the human race battling each other for supremacy.
