  What we all wanted to see was an alien that looked like an Elephant. That's pretty much it. We didn't want it to be a suit, and we sure as hell didn't want to see the main alien being a bald white guy. Too many questions, not enough answers. The planet should have just been LV-426, and instead of the black ooze it needed to be face huggers. I think that's pretty much it. Maybe they can fix those issues in future movies, but it would have been nice if they had just done all that in one.

  Maybe I am Too Much of a Dreamer...but why do most 'Aliens' HAVE to Be 'Bugs' 'Slugs' or just plain Evil!??? I agree that this movie could have been WAY better...why was this 'humanoid' wanting to destry us? or did I miss info from the 'story'? & that so called 'last scene' w/ the 'creature' we've all come to 'love/hate' was just plain ...STUPID!

  It should have been the sequel to 'Alien'...period. Making into something else is just a cheap attempt to put it into the realm of another over-hyped piece of cinematic trash: 2001 A Space Odyssey. Aside from being visually stunning its plot is meandering, misleading and obscure necessitating endless discussion in an attempt to make it relevant. 2001 made throwing your hands up in frustration into the Zen copout of 'it has a different meaning for each individual'. BS. Great movies become trash and vice versa depending on when the director has the good sense to keep his hands on the wheel and not at the whim of audience interpretation to make the story work.

  I watched one of the first screenings of "Blade Runner", and everybody--save a few like myself--simply HATED it!!!! ..Twenty some odd years later.....Ridley had us all begging for more, especially with the extended Director's cut.
  Someday in the future, this furor and confusion and disappointment shall pass and another generation will look back on this film as "genius". It's just a small part of a much larger puzzle wrapped in an enigma wrapped in an eternal mystery.

  Yeah, and people criticised 'Legend' ... and it is a classic. Ditto 'Someone to Watch Over Me', 'Black Rain', '1492', 'White Squal', 'A Good Year' etc. All classics, and people are too stupid to notice Mr. Scott's greatness ... or something.

  Prometheus was a mess. It certainly looks like a Ridley Scott movie (the visuals are stunning) and the trailer was perfect but something went badly wrong with the script. You cannot make excuses for plotholes, lousy structure and poor dialogue by claiming that the movie is somehow too sophisticated for its audience. I wanted this film to be so much better. It had massive potential! If it wasn't a prequel to Alien then why exploit that movies imagery to promote it? Will people watching this disaster in 10 years time bother to look up obscure references to viral adverts? Doubtful. It should be able to stand on its own as a movie, not a diffuse "interactive multimedia experience".

  I believe peopled wanted to see more of the alien. They went all that way just so the dude can kill them all? You figured the alien would do something mind blowing or say something to that extent. Nothing...and on top of that the movie ends with them going to the aliens planet. Yes, the planet where they decided to manufacture something so deadly, they had to make it on another planet, and on top of that they made it to kill us. -_-

  This film was so simplistic and shallow that I am amazed that it's fans are dismissing it's criticisms as the haters inability to '"understand" it. The makers only seemed interested in connecting the dots. Though, stylistically it is much closer to Alien, it does not have any of the mood, atmosphere or tension which makes that film a classic. It is a prequel which immediately calls for it's own prequel. Though: One of the best scenes of the year - the abortion.

  Always enjoy Ridley Scott movies. Prometheus stirred the pot. Hopefully with world wide box it will see another installment to bring the story line home. If the alien species is the source of the Gieger "organic" mother shops, then it would explain the temple in the movie and much more about the apparent symbiotic relationship between the humanoid beserker species and the alien cryptozoid species and its many derivative acid blood relatives. Go for the directors cut

  yeh, that abortion scene was the single most intense/engrossing moment of the film. I still like the movie but it felt like a creative writing teacher got a hold of the script!

  The movie seemed kind of jumpy in the theatre. I figured there was a three and a half hour "director's cut" somewhere that would smooth over the rough edges and flesh out some of the characters a bit better. Here's hoping that version is coming to BluRay in October (not holding my breath though).

  it seems to me that alot of people thought this was a prequel..it was not and nobody said it was .it was in fact a stand on its own sci fi movie with the link between the space jockey in alien and the ship anybody that thought this film was no good never watched the first alien film properly.i do agree about the comments on the script ,as the plot could have been stronger in parts.any film that makes anybody think can leave a nasty taste in the mouth of people that like films that dont make them think to much .in other words complete idiots

  The one thing that bothered me about the film was that so much history has already been written, at least in terms of other media like graphic novels, and even video games that fans enjoy and consider cannon. I rememember at least one graphic novel where the 'engineer' was featured and was not a direct ancestor of human beings. Another thing, I know the AVP films were, well, lacking, but It is a sad thing to say when a video game character voiced by Lance Henriksen (Bishop) make more of an impact than "Peter Weyland". Henriksen's appearance in the AVP films connected the films. Who's Peter Weyland?! Is it horrible of me to say that a mediocre video game, AVP, the one where Henriksen played Weyland(not peter weyland), would have made a better movie than Prometheus? It bothers me that you have directors like scott, who can make great work like gladiator, blade runner and blackhawk down, but then feel the need to go back and beat a dead horse by rebooting past successes. This movie was about as enjoyable to me as Indiana Jones 4, which was not. I did enjoy many of the performances, including "Peter Weyland's", but practically being raised on the first two alien movies, and then shunning the third and fourth, I think I'll watch this one just a little more then Alien 3. All this being said, I actually liked it, at least they didn't have to clone anyone to make another installment.

  great movie ,but it would not appeal to anyone that didnt have a brain,like the comments i just read like its garbage and stupid comments that just brush the movie off ,for a alien film fan i loved it ,as i always wanted to no more about this and how the alien dna came to light,the film leaves questions to be answered and thought about.if you have no brain and like predictable stupid movies,go watch men in black or alien ressurection .

  If Ridley Scott didn't like Lindelof's script he could have fired him. That's what directors and producers are supposed to do. Hitchcock fired the first screenwriter for Psycho. Good or bad, the buck for the script stops at his desk.

  Sorry guys but the writing for this film was atrocious. I really wanted to like this film and went into the film with high expectations. When I see a film I try to remain as objective as possible but my enthusiasm for this film overrode my attempts at objectivity. Even thought I wanted desperately to love it, I was greatly disappointed by the film.

  Can't expect anything less from Damon Lindelof for producing such a masterpiece :) After all, HOW many unanswered questions did we have in LOST (not complaining either)? A few...but this was great. Made you really use your brain and I love movies like that :)

  Prometheus is flawed, yes, but it stays in the mind long after, and Sir Ridder's overall aesthetics when it comes to Sci-Fi are unmatched. From colours and textures of costumes and props to lighting and so on. Scott will knock The Counselor out of the park, and that film and the Blade Runner sequel will be beautiful tributes to his late brother.

  A beautiful looking but dramatically inert movie. A real shame they hired Lindelof to script it, a more mature, intelligent writer could have done wonders with the material. Oh well, we'll see if Ridley Scott ever works with Lindelof again... somehow I doubt it.
