OK, slightly old news. We already knew that members of Mumford and Sons were collaborating with Justin Timberlake, Oscar Isaac and the cast members of the Coen Brothers' '60s folk scene movie "Inside Llewyn Davis." The likely connection is that lead Son, Marcus Mumford, is married to the film's co-lead Carey Mulligan and well, he's a pretty well-respected musician to boot.

Timberlake was on U.K. radio station Capital FM (via Consequence Of Sound) recently and spoke about their collaboration, though he didn't reveal too many details. "Marcus and myself, we all kind of worked on the music together and I don't know any other world where we would have the opportunity to collaborate like that but it was so much fun," he said.

Due later this year from CBS Films, Timberlake added, "So not only will that be a great movie, but the music to it will be fantastic," so we can hope for a killer soundtrack to come along with it as well.  Loosely based on the life of little-known 1960s folk icon Dave Van Ronk (or little-known at least compared to his friend Bob Dylan who went on to become a superstar),  "Inside Llewyn Davis"  chronicles a very Dave Van Ronk-esque singer-songwriter who tries to navigate his way throgh New York's folk music scene during the 1960s without much luck or success. How close is the connection?

Our friend, sometimes Playlist contributor and music afficiando Jordan Hoffman sent us this screenshot from the 'Llewyn Davis' trailer and  Van Ronk's 1963 album titled Inside Dave Van Ronk where the homages are pretty obvious. Right down to the cat on the Van Ronk cover that we see Isaac's character taking care of throughout the trailer. No word on a release date yet, but we're imagining a fall bow and maybe a Cannes premiere.
