Kristen Stewart Drops Out Of 'Cali,' Amber Heard Rumored As Her Replacement

With the Kristen Stewart/Rupert Sanders scandal still brewing on the edges of the tabloids -- and sure to be kicked up again when Robert Pattinson makes his first public on Monday on "The Daily Show" (!?) since news of the affair broke -- it seems the actress is keen to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible for the time being. Not only has she apparently pulled out of the red carpet premiere in London next Thursday for "On The Road," she is going to be staying off an upcoming movie set as well.

With the gritty indie "Cali" brewing over the past few months with Stewart as the lead star, producers will be left to find a replacement as Variety confirms a story first reported by Gossip Cop, that she has dropped out of the production. Nick Cassavetes is set to direct the film, with a start date originally slated for "late summer" (though we're pretty much there), that follows Mya, who pairs up with her boyfriend Chris to make a fake snuff film which they sell for a wad of cash before beating it out of the San Fernando Valley. Years later, she's forced to head back to save her younger sister, but to do so she will have to face a bunch of oddball characters as well as keep a handle on her relationship with Chris.

Stewart and Alex Pettyfer were originally slated to play the lead couple, but now it's rumored that Amber Heard is being sought out to replace the actress. Either way, Pettyfer is sitting pretty. No word yet if Voltage Pictures will try and stick as close to schedule as possible or push the movie back, but it will likely depend on a number of factors including who ultimately stars, scheduling and more.

I think you're all mad as hatters!
    Absolutely insane
Who gives a flying !#$#@#@$if she cheated or not,not your life, not your business.
Look, she does her job, she's an actress.
How sad that people hate a person they don't know.I think some sort of therapy is in order.

  • Lil | August 11, 2012 10:19 PMReply

I think it's a good decision for Kristen to stay out of the UK. It would be hurtful to Liberty Ross and her children to have the press all over Stewart's presence in the UK for a film premiere. As to the change in plans for Cali, since Kristen and Pettyfer were the only one's cast so far, I'm not sure that there was a crew set up yet. I also don't think it's not that unusual for film stars to have to drop out of a project.

  • Lil | August 11, 2012 10:31 PM

I meant to say that it's not that unusual for a star to drop out of a film. Both Colin Farrell and Marion Cotillard had to be replaced in Cosmopolis for instance.

Come on people, it doesn't matter if she drops out or not. She is an awful actress, I've seen her play four different characters the exact same way. How she's the highest paid actress in Hollywood is beyond me. She cheated on her boyfriend, no biggy. But she cheated with a married man, and that has shown her true self and it's sad.

  • What the | August 15, 2012 10:38 AM

It's the Married Mans fault 100%. He is the one that made promises to his wife to be faithful and has children. If your dating you are still shopping with an option to buy. If a Married person has an affair it's always, always the married persons fault.

Dropping out of the film is totally unprofessional. She committed to doing the film, and she should stand by her committments. By the time this movie was released, this scandal would be long forgotten in a list of new celebrity scandals.

I think she should promote On The Road too. She starred in that and the film was depending on her to market it. And I don't buy the excuse that she feels her presence at the premieres would overshadow the movie because she's the star and there's no getting around that.

In the real world, people have bad things happen to them (self-inflicted or out of their control) and they have to keep functioning. She has to too.

gossip cop should it has not been confirmed by kristen or her team and Variety just said they have email chats that confirms it but they havent released said chats. Until Kristen, the studio and the teams or anything concrete confirms it, im not believing she back out.

Guys please take it easy! Don't believe everything you read. The media will say anything just to get some ratings. At the end of the day what should really matter is how good the final product is in a movie. The actor's lives should be left out unless they have something positive to say.
I thing we as the public should respect the actors personal lives as well. Put yourselves in their shoes for a minute and see if you like people taking pictures of you 24/7 and talking non sense about you and your family or friends. Some true or some just fabricated. Is a high price to pay. While is true they get pay a lot, can they enjoy it in peace? Maybe not! Being an actor is just another job with a better pay that is all. I believe in freedom of speech but I do not agree with disrespecting and calling names like some comments below. Whatever happened is between the persons affected by the situation. I don't know why some fans take what Kristen Steward did so personal as they were personally affected as well. That is crazy to me!! Robert Pattinson will do just fine. Its not the end of the world for no one and shouldn't be anyway. I feel more for Liberty and her kids since they were a more established family. Anyway just relax and take it easy is not that serious!!! LOL

Best thing to happen to that movie.

  • The Truth About You | August 9, 2012 6:48 PMReply

I have to say that I SO GLAD Kristen Stewart isn't going to being do this movie! Why? Because she is a no-talented, two-faced hypocritical, habitual lying, crack whore looking, cheating, bitch to her fans, home wrecking SLUT!!! I hope this "low-life" NEVER recovers from her TARNISHED IMAGE and is OUTCASTED FROM HOLLYWOOD FOR LIFE!

  • Olli | August 10, 2012 3:31 AM

And I´m sure you can write all these insults because you know her personally, right?

I´m glad for every movie she isn´t doing, but first you should check your language and second you should have enough balls to write something like this under your real name. And I´m pretty sure your name is not Robert Pattinson...

  • anna | August 9, 2012 7:12 PM

    lol. crazy person.

  • REAL | August 9, 2012 6:12 PMReply

@ Thomas: You are laughable. I comment on this site frequently so I'd be interested what are these non-existent posts that make me an "R.Patz fan". I have no interest in her, her ex-boyfriend or her personal life. As I mentioned in my previous post my sympathy is with the crew members who always get stiffed in these situations as it messes up their schedules and they miss out on booking other jobs and they-unlike Stewart-do not have piles of money to fall back on. I have no idea why anyone would want to make this film as it sounds like a certified pice of shit (and I said as much in the only other time I have commented on this project) but dropping out of a film that's due to start shooting in a matter of weeks without extremely good reason IS considered unprofessional and will be hugely costly for the production and all involved. Plenty of celebrities, in fact plenty of everyday people, have suffered worse than her and carried on with their professional commitments. Not sure why you feel the need to jump on me for telling the truth.

  • Real | August 9, 2012 5:07 PMReply

She ahs crap taste in films wasn't she executive producing this sure to be future piece of garbage too? This is pretty damn unprofessional of her. Sucks for everyone else involved who isn't a multi-millioniare like Stewart especially the film crew who always get screwed over during situations like these.

  • Thomas | August 9, 2012 5:23 PM

To "Real" you sound like aR. Patz fan. go dry hump your pillow, honey.

She must be going through depression or something to drop out of a movie. I always heard she was always pretty professional on set unlike that Pettyfer guy...

  • Mi | August 9, 2012 4:40 PMReply

Pattinson was a guest of The Daily Show in 2010 while promoting Remember Me,so what this (!?) means?

  • Petesake | August 9, 2012 4:26 PMReply

This may a blessing in disguise since I heard the name Alex Pettyfer. Looking forward to seeing her in better material quite frankly.

  • Peter | August 9, 2012 4:20 PMReply

Radar Online are filth. The material of Cali is not right for Stewart due to what's happening. Very tough break for a 22 year old.

    Who did she kill again?

  • marcus | August 9, 2012 10:09 PM

Poor baby, having to worry about her image after screwing a married father of two. I don't see anyone forcing her out of this project. I see Stewart being an unprofessional drama queen. She should face up to her responsibilities and not halt the entire production for the rest of the cast and crew.

  • oogle monster | August 9, 2012 8:39 PM

Peter, she killed TRUE LOVE. The worst kind of crime to commit.

  • Amanda | August 9, 2012 4:09 PMReply

I don't think she never has plan to go to UK premiere in the first place. So the reference that she pulls out from Radar Online is false.
